Groundworks

We know every project and every client is different. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach, which is why we’ve made it as simple as possible to contact us in the way that works best for you.

Are ground beams and RC slabs inspected by Building Control?

Yes. Inspections are carried out at key stages and signed off as part of the Building Control process.

Are ground beams and slabs designed by a structural engineer?

Yes. All ground beams and slabs are designed by a structural engineer, including reinforcement details and load requirements.

What types of reinforced concrete slabs do you construct?

We construct both suspended and ground-bearing reinforced concrete slabs, depending on the engineer’s design.

When are ground beams required?

Ground beams are typically required where foundations are piled or where loads need to be distributed across multiple support points.

What is the difference between a ground beam and a reinforced concrete (RC) slab?

A ground beam is a reinforced concrete beam that transfers loads from walls or columns onto piles or foundations. A reinforced concrete slab forms the structural floor of the building. The two elements are often used together on piled foundations.
