What is piling, and why do you need it?
Piling is used for a variety of residential building projects, including house extensions, new builds, basement conversions and underpinnings. It’s a technique where long columns (piles) are driven or drilled deep into the ground to reach stable soil layers, creating a solid base to support the weight of your structure.
In areas where the ground is weak, inconsistent, or made up of fill material, piling provides a safer and more stable foundation than traditional shallow footings. It’s also a preferred solution for properties affected by subsidence or where access is limited.
