Pile Spacing and Layout

Why pile spacing and layout for SCD driven piling deserves careful attention at the design stage

The spacing and layout of SCD driven piles is determined by the same fundamental principles that govern any piled foundation, but there are aspects specific to driven piling that make the layout decisions more nuanced than they might first appear. The displacement effect of driving, the interaction between adjacent piles in a group, and the sequence in which piles are installed all have a bearing on how the layout performs in practice. At Capital Piling we work through these considerations as part of the pre-construction design process, because picking them up during installation is always more disruptive and costly than resolving them on paper beforehand.
