Located within a residential setting, the scheme required a controlled piling solution suitable for installation in close proximity to existing structures. Steel Cased Driven piling was selected due to its low vibration characteristics and dependable load-bearing performance, making it well suited to sensitive environments.
The piles were installed to an average design depth of approximately 6 metres, providing stable support for the superstructure. Reinforced concrete ground beams (500mm x 500mm) were then constructed below ground level, incorporating specified reinforcement and beam formwork to ensure structural integrity and continuity across the foundation system.
Anti-heave precautions were incorporated to the underside of the ground beams, providing additional protection against potential ground movement and enhancing long-term performance.

Capital Piling was appointed to deliver a piled foundation and reinforced concrete ground beam package at Beechgrove, Penn, Buckinghamshire.
The works comprised the installation of 13 No. 220mm diameter Steel Cased Driven (SCD) piles together with the construction of 28.8 linear metres of reinforced concrete ground beams, forming the primary structural support for the proposed development.
Full engineering design was included for the piling works, with ground beams constructed in accordance with the client’s structural specifications.
