Working within the confines of an operational Premier League stadium required careful coordination, controlled installation and strict adherence to site constraints.
Steel Cased Driven piling was selected due to its low noise and reduced ground-borne vibration characteristics. In accordance with BS5228 guidance, vibration levels associated with steel cased bottom-driven systems fall well below thresholds associated with structural damage, making this methodology particularly well suited to works in close proximity to existing structures.
The piles were quoted at 8 metres in length (as instructed by the client) and installed to design requirements, with final depth subject to soil conditions and refusal criteria. Given the sensitivity of the surrounding structures, the controlled installation methodology was key to ensuring safe and compliant delivery.
All works were carried out in coordination with the principal contractor and within the logistical constraints of the stadium setting.

About the Project
Capital Piling was appointed by JS Brennan Construction Ltd to undertake specialist piling works at Stamford Bridge Stadium, Fulham Road, London SW6 - the home of Chelsea Football Club.
The works comprised the installation of 13 No. 150mm diameter Steel Cased Driven (SCD) piles to support structural works within the stadium environment. Full pile design was included as part of our appointment.
