About the Project
The works comprised full site preparation, including excavation and the installation of a suitable sub-base, followed by the construction of a reinforced concrete slab and surrounding walls in accordance with the structural engineer’s design.
Detailed formwork was installed to achieve the required layout, with A393 mesh reinforcement and associated steel fixed throughout the base and wall elements. The structure incorporated a 1000mm high reinforced concrete wall and internal features to suit the substation design.
Concrete was then placed in controlled pours to ensure strength, consistency and finish, with cube testing undertaken to verify compliance with the relevant standards.

About the Project
Capital Piling Ltd were appointed to deliver the construction of a reinforced concrete substation base at Furzedown Primary School, following a contract variation during ongoing works.
The project involved the installation of a 21sqm reinforced concrete base to support a new electrical substation within the school grounds. While this type of work sits slightly outside our usual piling packages, it reflects our ability to adapt and deliver solutions based on the specific requirements of each project.
Project Summary
The project was delivered within a confined site environment, requiring a coordinated and flexible approach throughout the construction process.
Although different from our typical scope, the same level of care and attention to detail was applied across all stages, particularly within the formwork, steel installation and concrete placement.
The completed substation base provides a robust and accurate foundation for the incoming electrical installation, and the finished result reflects the quality and consistency we aim to achieve across all of our projects.
