Project Description
Located at Cricket Pavilion, Dulwich Common, SE21 7EX, this project involved the installation of a specialist piled foundation solution to support a new pavilion structure.
The scheme comprised the installation of 51 screw piles forming the primary foundation system, followed by the construction of a 250mm thick reinforced concrete flat slab incorporating structural upstands to suit the superstructure requirements.
Designed to provide a robust, long-lasting and low-disruption foundation solution, the works were carefully coordinated within an active recreational environment.

About the Project
This project required a foundation solution that combined structural performance with minimal environmental impact. Given the site’s location within a functioning cricket ground, careful planning and precision installation were essential.
Scope of Works Included:
Installation of 51 engineered screw piles to specified depths and load requirements
Pile setting out and alignment to structural drawings
Construction of a 250mm thick reinforced concrete slab
Formation of integrated RC upstands to receive the superstructure
Reinforcement fixing, shuttering and concrete placement
Finishing and curing in line with structural engineer specifications
The screw pile system provided an efficient alternative to traditional deep trench foundations, reducing spoil removal and programme time while maintaining structural integrity.
The reinforced concrete slab was designed to distribute loads evenly across the pile system, with upstands cast integrally to ensure accurate interface levels for follow-on trades.
